Just a Quick update to inform the mail server will be offline Saturday for some maintenance and backups. Shouldn't be too long and will probably be in the evening hours.

I don't bother updating anymore really, because, quite frankly my format sucks...alot. I wanted to post an update for some of the friends and folks interested though when I update the webalbum. That also sucks as I've been testing various different web photo album creators and haven't decided on a standard to use. So its a bit confusing to navigate. But I wanted to put these up since some will be interested. We hit up the Cincinnati museum center about 2 hours before they closed but I got off some decent pics. Still working on how to properly control the camera though.

Check out the Web photo Album. Its mixed in with some random shots of the house and a coupla test pics, but they are mostly of Union Terminal and some of them didn't come out half bad.

Hey all, for those interested the server upgrade is mostly done! There are a few configuration changes that will need to be done over the coming weeks, but email should be working ok. As always please email me any problems you may run into. The new email website is a bit different in layout but offers MUCH more functionality, though largely, how to use, it remains unchanged. Just remember to ACCEPT the certificate when going to the email webpage ( httpS://www.violentnexus.net/exchange ). The next objective will involve changing the website layout, but that's probably still a few weeks (months?) off. As always we apologize for any inconvenience, thanks!

We have began migrating to a new server and software. This may cause website and email service interruptions. Hopefully things should be back up in full swing by this Monday!

Heres whats happening. Not much added, except for a whole slew of new aquarium pics. The big project next will be migrating to new hardware, so the re may be some interruptions in availability here. I will try to post when in advanced as the big move might take a couple days.

Ok, so I am trying a new HTML editor so it will take me some time to figure this one out, until then updates maybe a little on the light side...

Its not due to laziness really, but been having some problems with my html editor(I shoulda stuck with notepad!). Tonight I am trying to get some new pics up (aquarium!)and some general maintenance here...

I quick note: I received my new Hard drive back already, I might be putting in tonight or sometime this weekend, so expect some downtime....And it should be minimal (shyeah, like last time!)

Having some problems with my HTML editor, it makes it a bit less functional to say the least. Well, the servers hard drive is on its way to being replaced. So eventually the server will be going down again to replace that. I REALLY need to get a UPS power supply. Unexplained power outages around here cause havoc on the email database. An inconvenience to me and I feel bad for those using me for an email provider. "She" wanted more kitty cat pics up, so they're there, if you can stomach her website. I really haven't had new ones to post, but one of these days I will go to get some nice ones to post.

Things are going a bit slower (as always) to get things updated here, but there is a path I am following here folks so stay with me. I got some studying to do for some tests, mostly Microsoft stuff, but hey, it pays the bills. Things are looking a bit better for getting a new server. But the plan here is it wont really be put into play for another couple months. The sooner the better though. Need some redundancy very badly here. Ah well, its all cherries and lollipops, right?

One Hard drive two days, I tell you nothing ever works out to easy, oh well, things are more or less back to normal. The only data loss was my own. Yay

Just a quick update, tweaked some settings, things still look ok so far, she wanted to redo some of her thumbnailed pics but other than no big changes right now. Keep on truckin'

EDIT: Oh yeah, for anyone seeing this by tomorrow, the server will be off line for a bit, will be adding a hard drive to it, shouldn't be down to long though.

Ok folks, here's what's going on. I will be doing some maintenance on the server this weekend, but it shouldn't interrupt service too much. Mostly backups. You can check out Melanie's newly designed pages, but beware, its one of those "My First Web page" deals, if it weren't for the fact that she doesn't know about animated GIF's they'd be everywhere. Its hard enough to navigate as it is, but hey, its her space....At any rate, she did put up allot of pics, so it might be worth checking out, click "Melanie's homepage" link on the left and be blinded :)

Yup, still gots lots to do! It looks like given my current financial situation, I wont be getting a second server for awhile, so I'll be sticking to static content for awhile. At least that will let me brush up on my static html skillz. I think part of my laggy-ness on the web may be due to me. I will be working on shutting some services down that may be causing me some problems and keeping the server up to snuff. Email status should be ok now, remember if anyone has email problems, let me know!

I've been trying to format the web pages to keep things in sync and continuity and because I will be hosting some pics for people along with the web mail hosting and I still have to figure out a way for melanie to customize her web pages. She has a few ideas for her toontown stuff and all. 'Till later!

I don't know if its just me or what, but the connection here is still laggy from the recent worm and virus outbreaks. SoBig F variant was actually pretty slick, I was looking forward to it, bummer CERT was all over it like, well, you know. Anyway's, not much of an update still. Added some recent pics from our visit to just south of the river in Newport (check the web album). Network status, other than being a little laggy, is fine and functional. The server has been running great, but still needs upgrading badly. Almost done ripping my entire cd collection to MP3 format, and will be adding it to the ftp side soon. Which reminds me, if anyone needs storage space, its open: ftp.violentnexus.net

Well the good news, the server is running fine, but between the latest Microsoft exploit and planned ISP maintenance, actual online uptime has been shot to hell and back. It looks like there is planned maintenance on roadrunner for the next two days no less. So if you have problems getting here keep trying. Other than that, still doing some back-end updates, no new content though...but its getting there. Eventually the plans for world domination are coming together!

Last thing I will need to do is upgrade the Anti virus on the server, I will be doing this Saturday night (the 9th of august), expected downtime should be relatively short, maybe 2 or so hours. Other than that, things should be running smoothly and nothing else will have to be done other updating web files.

Just a quick update. I am still working on securing email and web services (HA!, Go M$!). Things are still going as planned as far as that goes, but again, no real new content on the web :( . I still want to get a second server up and running before I go with any additional services, like SQL. I'm getting there though.

Alright not everything is perfect but its definitely looking good. Locking down the system has been a bit painful, but I recently found out how to enable SSL encryption for email, and that is quite the good thing. Things still aren't quite perfect, but looking allot better than before. Unfortunately, I haven't spent allot of time on the web pages themselves, but with the better security I have, there will be mucho better uptime. So for right now, don't expect allot of content, but it is coming! Mel is attempting to plan her Toontown stuff, and I have a few more directories worth of pics to share out. So, stay tuned!

Well, No errors on the event viewer on the server. Though now the IIS lockdown has pretty much whacked IIS pretty good. I might be doing a reinstall here anyway's to repartition the HDD's and restructure the server layout, But not until I have a reliable way to back up everyone's mail. Looks like I have a tool that will do this pretty reliably. Melanie is thinking of designs for her little portion of this web site, but right now don't have real new content to add, just some re-arranging of some files here and there and making sure everything is working. I partially am setting up the FUNNAYS! section, but that's about it. This is were I will be storing some of the more juvenilistic gems I find on the web. Catch everyone on the flipside, L8r...

Well, that was fun. I stick a new chunk of ram in the server and it completely hosed IIS. When all was said and done I had to reinstall IIS AND exchange, GO MS! Well things are mostly back together, but I haven't had a spare minute to work on things in here, and right now the only thing I am interested right now is blowing things up, so don't expect any new stuff posted here for at least another day..

Well, maybe the interface to IrFanView could use a bit tweaking, I only thumbnailed a bunch of images into the wrong directory about 18 times now, but still beats the hell out of manually writing all that out. All I am adding tonight is another page worth of Cat pics (groan) to her part of the site and started the web photo album. At least its a start. The structure of the site is coming together a bit finally, and I have few more changes that need to go in, but allot of images and other content is coming. So those friends and family checking this out, stay tuned. Expect at least almost daily updates for about a week or more!

I Cant believe it just took me almost two hours to just re-organize the old directories of the web site In the time it takes to get one page up a day I MIGHT be done with the temporary site next year!! Ah well, makes me look forward to when I can post in dynamic content all that much sooner...

After re-organizing all this crap, I only had time to half-ass-way setup Melanie's stuff. So for now the only new link for now is to her thumb nailed images, and even that stuff is going to be changed a bit (I need to change each individual page to suit the site) Though thumb nailing with IfranView is definitely cool, and it has some really great batch/scripting options on how to deal with allot of images at once.

Well Keep checking often, I will probably be adding stuff daily for awhile till I get all of our old content linked up!

Ok, I am not particularly thrilled with what I am going to be able to do here with static pages, So I have decided to stop wasting my time with that and just through something together (again!!) until I can get a better handle on dynamic stuff. I am looking more into asp/xhtml, php/SQL and stuff like that. At least with this current layout it should be able to be easier to navigate, and I will be able to group some of the content a bit more logically, making it easier to find.

As soon as I get the links together I am going to post this up and get the files a little better organize on the server. Later I will worry about making it purty with buttons for links and whatnot.

As a matter of fact, I am not going to finish anything else until I get all the images thumb nailed out using IrFanview. Until then, click the "Links page" Link to get the ole' homepage, and if your trying to log into email, the navbar on the left should have a link to the OWA/email login.
